Die PET SHOP BOYS zählen zu den kommerziell erfolgreichsten Künstler der letzten 25 Jahre. Ihre Songs und Texte sind geistreich, manchmal pompös, aber immer absolut tanzbar und brillant. Allein in Deutschland erhielten Neil Tennant und Chris Lowe drei Platin- und neun Goldawards. Ihre ungebrochene Popularität zeigt sich nicht zuletzt daran, dass sie auch im Jahr 2010 wieder als Headliner bei unzähligen Festivals rund um den Globus gebucht wurden. Der Titel "ULTIMATE" des neuen CD/DVD-Sets steht als Programm. Die
Zusammenstellung aus fast drei Jahrzehnten PET SHOP BOYS präsentiert auf der CD 19 ihrer größten Hits inklusive des neuen Songs "Together". Dieses Lied wurde von Neil Tennant und Chris Lowe erst im September 2010 aufgenommen.
Die Trackliste der "ULTIMATE"-CD beginnt mit ihrem ersten Megahit "West End Girls" aus dem Jahr 1985, der in diesem Jahr sein 25-jähriges Jubiläum feiert. Anschließend beginnt eine Reise durch die Hit-Geschichte des britischen Electropop-Duos - von "Surburbia" und "It´s A Sin" über "Always On My Mind", "Being Boring" und "Go West" bis hin zum neuen Song "Together".
Die Deluxe-Version von "ULTIMATE" enthält zusätzlich zur CD eine umfangreiche DVD mit mehr als drei Stunden Spielzeit. Der Bildtonträger zeigt unter anderem unveröffentlichte Auftritte von Neil Tennant und Chris Lowe, darunter 27 Single-Performances, die von der BBC für die Sendungen "Top Of The Pops", "Old Grey Whistle Test", "Wogan" und die "Brit Awards"-Show aufgezeichnet wurden. Dazu die komplette, 21 Titel umfassende Headliner-Perfomance des Glastonbury Festivals 2010.
