ROXY MUSIC: The Complete Studio Recordings 1972-1982

Parallel zur neuen LP-Box "The Studio Albums" wird von Virgin/Universal Music die 10-CD-Box "The Complete Studio Recordings 1972-1982" noch einmal neu aufgelegt. Diese Deluxe Box enthält die acht Studio-Alben "Roxy Music", "For Your Pleasure", "Stranded", "Country Life", "Siren", "Manifesto", "Flesh And Blood" und "Avalon" im Mini-Vinyl-Replica-Format. Dazu gibt es zwei Bonus-Discs mit B-Seiten, Mix-Versionen und Live-Tracks.

Als die sechsköpfige Band um Sänger Bryan Ferry, Gitarrist Phil Manzanera und Elektronik-Experimentierfeingeist Brian Eno Mitte 1972 mit ihrer nach dem Bandnamen betitelten Debüt-LP startete, waren sie optisch und musikalisch eine Sensation. Stylisch-exotisch-futuristisch-androgyn gekleidet präsentierte Roxy Music anfangs eine Mischung aus verfremdetem Rock 'n' Roll, experimentellem Bubblegum-Pop, Avantgarde-Disco Glam Rock und spacigem Art-Rock. Später, ohne Eno und mit Ferry als zentraler Figur, wurde daraus eine glamouröse Mixtur aus Soul, Soft-Rock und jazzigem Pop.

Egal zu welcher stilistischen Phase während der Jahre 1972 bis 1982: die Band erwies sich stets als außerordentlich einflussreich - zum Beispiel auf New Wave oder Post Punk. Frühe Singles wie "Virginia Plan", "Do The Strand", "Street Life" oder "Love Is A Drug" waren ebenso in den Charts erfolgreich wie beispielsweise die späteren Hits "More Than This" oder "Avalon".
